Loss in name only

    It might have been hard to find a prouder coach than Chase Sudol was last Friday night.    Yes, his Nashua-Plainfield team had come out on the short end of a 35-32 score in its Class A, District 3 opener with St. Ansgar. And yes, Sudol isn’t a fan of losing.    “I’m never going to tell you it’s OK to lose,” he said, “but when I talked to the kids, I told them it’s been a long time since I’ve seen us fight like that. It’s been a few years, I’ll tell you that, since we played with that much heart and determination.”    The Huskies were coming off a disappointing 32-0 loss to Hudson and most folks figured Friday was going to be another long night for Sudol’s boys.    St. Ansgar, well, it’s “Saint” — one of the most traditional-laden programs in northern Iowa — yet the Huskies refused to quit.    Despite a Mason Hyde 11-yard touchdown run and a Dayton Hansen touchdown pass to Mitchell Malven, the Huskies entered the fourth quarter trailing 28-12.
