Lawler park is getting a new look
The Lawler Park Committee is proud to announce it has raised enough money to purchase and begin installing new playground equipment on the west end of Lawler. The group began raising money a year ago last April.“We, as a community, realized it would be nice to upgrade the park,” said Committee member Deb Zubrod. “So much of it was just not code safe as far as the Iowa Code.”As well as updating the equipment the committee is planning to get rid of the mulch and replace it with crushed rubber mulch.“We want to make it more exciting and inviting. The new equipment has bright colors and might attract some passersby,” said Zubrod. To help raise money the committee has had food stands at Lawler Irish Fest the last two years. They have also done mailings asking for donations which had a very successful turnout.“We have had several generous businesses,” said Zubrod. The committee was also granted a couple of grants including the Community Foundation Grant for $5,000, one from Black Hills Energy for $1,500, one from Bank Iowa for $5,000 and one from Black Hawk Gaming for $20,000.For the complete story see the 08/26/2016 New Hampton Tribune.
