June C. Sweitzer, age 79, of New Hampton, IA passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton.Funeral Services for June will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton with Pastor Kevin Frey officiating. Burial will take place at New Hampton Cemetery following the funeral service.Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton and will continue at the church one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday. June Carolyn was born March 4, 1939, the daughter of John and Ozelle (Ose) Hovick in Roland, IA. She attended and graduated from Roland High School. June continued her education at Waldorf College to pursue a degree in education. She taught Kindergarten in the Nora Springs and New Hampton School Districts. On December 12, 1965, June was united in marriage to Gary C. Sweitzer at Congregational United Church of Christ in New Hampton. The couple settled down and welcomed three children; Dennis, John and Carol. June and Gary enjoyed taking their family camping during summer and playing cards with other families during the winter. After Gary’s retirement in 1996, they became snow birds and wintered in Dade City, FL until his death in 2008. June devoted her life to her family, and church family. After the death of her eldest son, Dennis, June volunteered with St. Croix Hospice. She enjoyed baking and was known for her Holiday treats.Those left to cherish June’s memory are her son, John Sweitzer of Mason City, IA; her daughter, Carol (David) Hauser of New Hampton; two grandsons, Hayden and Gatlin; her sisters, Janet (Larry) Tantow of Rochester, MN, Julie (Bud) DeWees of Huntington Beach, CA and Bev (Mike) Oleson of Ft. Dodge, IA; brother-in-law, Ray (Audrey) Sweitzer of Cincinnati, OH; her sisters-in-law, Genny Sweitzer of New Hampton and Mary Zook of Sioux City, IA along with numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents John and Ozelle; her husband, Gary; son, Dennis and sister-in-law, Sharrol Trower.
