Judith Ann Hartshorn dies at 75
Judith Ann Hartshorn born Mar. 15, 1941 in Des Moines, to parents Howard and Mary (Giannasi) Warren. She passed away Feb. 26, 2017 Fort Worth, Texas. She was 75 years old.Judy married the love her life Rupert on April 22, 1961 from that day on Judy spent her life supporting her husband, children and grandchildren; her focus was always family first. Judy has spent the last 32 years in Texas enjoying the warmth and not shoveling snow like when living in New Hampton. Judy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and going to their extracurricular activities whenever she was able. She loved playing Bridge and Scrabble (usually winning all Scrabble matches) and watching musicals such as Hello Dolly, West Side Story, Sound of Music and Chicago. Judy was an avid reader and enjoyed true crime books, many times calling her kids to talk about a recent crime and who she felt was guilty. She enjoyed watching college basketball and football. When Rupe was cheering for the Cowboys, Judy would be cheering against them and calling them the “cowgirls”. Judy talked fondly of the memories and friends that she left behind in Iowa. Judy also cherished her time with dear friends, Janet Snyder, Sarah Jackson and Kira Murley and her favorite hairdresser, Angela Austin.She is preceded in death by her husband, Rupert E. Hartshorn, parents, Howard and Mary Warren, nephews, Craig and Doug Kakert. Brother-in-law, Larry Hartshorn.Judy leaves behind her children, Scott (Anne) Hartshorn of Oklahoma City, Okla., Melanie (Ron) Rich of Fort Worth Texas. and Michelle (Mike) Snyder of Shakopee, Minn.. Grandchildren, Drew Hartshorn and fiancé Natália Oliveira, Emily Hartshorn, Elizabeth Hall, Allison Slick and fiancé Alex Hershey, Tyler Slick and Abby Slick. Sisters, Veronica (Gene) Kakert and Myra (Craig) Hansen. Brother, Jake (Judy) Warren. Sister-in-law, Judy A. Hartshorn, nephews and many friends.In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Judy’s name to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital, The Alzheimer’s Association or the American Diabetes Association.Judy’s children would like to give a special Thank You to ALL of the staff at The Atria Senior Living, Silverado Memory Care and her Hospice nurses. You gave her the love and care every family hopes for when your loved one enters their final stages of life. We are forever thankful and grateful for each and every one of you.
