Joseph Panoch, dies at 84
Joseph Panoch, age 84, of rural Castalia, died on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Society in Postville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 28, 2017, 10 a.m., at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Ossian.
Joseph (Joe) James Panach was born on March 6, 1933, the son of Joseph William Panoch and Rose Ann (Bilek) Panoch in Lourdes. He attended and graduated from New Hampton High School. Joe married Jane Ann Meyer on April 26, 1958 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in New Hampton. Joe worked at Oliver’s Manufacturing in Charles City and farmed near the New Hampton area, and later farmed near Postville and Castalia areas. Forty-five years ago, Oct. 26, 1972, Joe and Jane bought the current farm near Franksville. Joe enjoyed turtle hunting and listening to polka music. His pride and joy, was his granddaughter Marissa, known to him as “Little One.” In his two years at the Postville Good Samaritan Center, he was always known to be so thankful to the nurses.
Joseph is survived by his children: James Panoch, Castalia, and JoEllen (Loren) Foels, Postville. One granddaughter: Marissa Foels, Postville. Sister: Gigi Wollemberg, Rochester, Minn. Brother: Ray (Carol) Panoch, New Hampton. Sister-in-law: Nancy Panoch, Punta Gorda, Fla. along with many nieces and nephews.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife Jane on April 2, 2008. Parents: Joseph and RoseAnn (Bilek) Panoch. Sister: Lorraine Scholbrock. Brothers: Ron, Leland and Donnie Panoch. Mother and father-in-law: Alfred and Ella Meyer. Brothers-in-law: Dean (Eilene) Meyer, Dale (Evelyn) Meyer, Marvin Scholbrock and Norman Wollenberg. Sister Rosemarie Blong.
