John Henry Haugen dies at 86
John Henry Haugen, age 86 of Cedar Falls, died Monday, December 19, 2016 at Western Home Communities. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, December 23, 2016 at First Lutheran Church, Waterloo. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Parrott & Wood Chapel, Waterloo. Online condolences may be left at www.overtonservice.comJohn Henry Haugen was born March 27, 1930 in Saude, the son of Theodore and Marie (Anderson) Haugen. He graduated from Paris Tech and moved on to attend Hawkeye Community College and received an HVAC certificate. On June 12, 1954, he was united in marriage with Cyrilla Theresa Birmingham. He worked at Rath Packing for 17 years before moving to John Deere where he worked as an HVAC mechanic for 27 years. John had a tremendous work ethic and was proud of his work, something he passed on to his children. He absolutely loved to work on houses, cars, or even projects for his family. John also enjoyed watching NASCAR and especially loved watching Jeff Gordon race. John was definitely a people person, always willing and concerned to help others. But most of all, John loved being with his family.John is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Daniel, Wallis, and Davis Haugen; and sisters: Leone Roberson and Joanne Sheehy. John is survived by his wife; his five sons: Father John Haugen of Edgewood; Greg Haugen of Valdosta, Ga; Dan (Michelle) Haugen of Cedar Rapids; Will (Connie) Haugen of Kieler, Wisc; Marty (Michelle) Haugen of Waterloo; his two daughters: Liz (Bill) Neunsinger of Cedar Falls; Krissy (Paul) Hertz of Norwalk, Conn; eleven grandchildren: Kailana, Josh, Jake, Elizabeth, Rachael, Gina, Thomas, Sammy, Hunter, Sammi, and Hope; three great grandchildren: Chase, Cam, and Erynn; two brothers: Bill (Mary Jo) Haugen of Seattle, Wash; Karl Haugen of Cedar Falls; and one sister: Nancy Jackson of LaPorte.
