Janet “Tommy” Lehman dies at 88

Janet “Tommy” Lehman, age 88 of Fredericksburg, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton.
A Private Family Memorial Service will be held at a later date at United Congregational Church of Christ in New Hampton, with Pastor Paul Pickar officiating.
Friends may greet Tommy’s family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton.  Online condolences for Tommy’s family may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Janet Genevra “Tommy” Lehman was born on October 13, 1928, the daughter of Bertrum Marion and Janet Elizabeth (Corbin) Morse in Clear Lake, Iowa.  In 1936, the family moved to New Hampton where she graduated from New Hampton High School in 1946.  On August 7, 1947, Tommy married Virgil H. Lehman at United Methodist Church in New Hampton.  The couple made their home in New Hampton where she worked for Alden Leichtman for four years.  In 1955, Tommy and Virgil moved out to the family farm south of New Hampton where she was currently residing.  After raising her family, Tommy worked as a para educator and learned sign languae, as well as for Kennedy and Kennedy Law Firm and Liddle’s Super Value where she was a demo person.  She was a member of United Congregational Church of Christ, a 4-H Leader, also belonging to the Pony Express Riders of Iowa, Chickasaw Trail Riders, Order of Eastern Star and American Legion Auxilliary.  She was most happy though, when she was spending time with her family.
Tommy is survived by one daughter, Serena and Leo Deutsch of Nashua; one son Cary H. and Julie Lehman of New Hampton; her grandchildren; Megan, Caitlin and Cole H. Lehman, Jeremy H. and Christy Deutsch and Trevor and Kristi Deutsch; her great grandchildren, Jenna and Jake Johnson, Austin Deutsch and Nicole, Mira Deutsch; great-great grandchildren, Tucker and Gwen Johnson and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil H. Lehman on November 20, 1999; one grandson, Cory H. Lehman; her siblings, Bertrum, Marion, Gordon, David, Garland, Dale and June.
