James "Mose" Finnegan Dies At 88

James "Mose" Finnegan, age 88 of Ionia, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at Linn Haven Rehab and Healthcare in New Hampton.Per Mose’s request there will be no funeral services. Online condolences for Jim’s family may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com.  Memorials may be directed to Mose’s family.James Lawrence “Mose” Finnegan was born on Aug. 8, 1928, to James and Agnes (Bolton) Finnegan in Gutenberg.  He attended and graduated from St. Boniface School in Ionia.  After graduating, Mose entered into the United States Army and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1957.  Upon his return home, Mose built and ran the DX Station in Ionia until his retirement at the age of 62.  However, retirement kept him busy working for Smith Construction.  He enjoyed playing cards, dog races and socializing.Mose is survived by his two sisters, Ann Schmitz of New Hampton and Della Johnson of Nashua; two sisters-in-law, Patsy Finnegan of Ionia and Viola Finnegan of New Hampton and several nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Madonna, Pat, Rita, Jerry and Theresa.
