End of the road

It wasn’t the ending Nashua-Plainfield coach Dani Demuth wanted, yet she focused on the positive Tuesday night after the Huskies’ season came to a close with a 3-0 loss to Clarksville in the opening round of the playoffs.“The girls we have on the team right now, they’re all in,” she said, “and they’ve kept their heads up and battled. They’re where they need to be and I’m proud of the effort they’ve given us.”Nashua-Plainfield struggled at the plate all night against Clarksville eighth-grader Kori Wedeking and were done in by one bad inning.The Indians scored all the runs they would need in the second inning when they plated three unearned runs.And that was more than enough for Wedeking, who finished with a no-hitter that included 15 strikeouts and one walk.“We just couldn’t get the bats going,” Demuth said, “and some of that is that’s a pretty good eighth-grader over there.”For the full story, please see the July 7 Reporter.
