Despite ‘moments,’ Turkey Valley sees season end at Tripoli
Karissa Schmidt headed off the volleyball floor for the last time of her volleyball career Monday, and while the Trojans ended the season with a 3-0 loss to Tripoli, Schmidt was proud — really proud actually — of her teammates.
“Tripoli’s ranked and I’m proud of how we didn’t cave in,” she said after the TV girls lost 25-11, 25-8, 25-9 to the sixth-ranked Panthers.
“I’m proud of how far the team has come this year and I’m looking forward to seeing where Ethan (Trojan coach Ethan Adams) will take the program next year,” said the lone TV senior.
Adams was also proud of his team.
“They showed moments of brilliance against a very good team,” said the second-year coach. “With the season we’ve had, it would have been easy for them to cash it in, but they’ve fixed more in the last three weeks, and they’re not done yet.”
Except for Schmidt. “We thank her for being a great leader and team player for four years, but the rest of us have a lot of work to do in the off-season.”
