Dale Lawrence was born September 8, 1951, the son of Anton and Agnes (Schwamman) Lechtenberg in New Hampton. He was a 1970 graduate of New Hampton High School. After completing his education, Dale was drafted into the United States Army where he served his nation during Vietnam until his honorable discharge in 1973. He returned home and began his career at John Deere, retiring in 2000.
On Sept. 10, 1977, Dale got “Lucky” when he was united in marriage to LuAnn Schwickerath at Immaculate Conception Church in North Washington. The couple made their home in New Hampton and welcomed three children, Derek, Dustin and Darcy.
Dale spent his 20 years of retirement outdoors; especially golfing, mowing the lawn, weekend road trips with friends, playing cards and tinkering in the garage. Most of all, he loved spending time giving tractor rides to his grandkids. Though he worked outside of New Hampton, Dale gave many of his years volunteering on the New Hampton Fire Department and was also a member of the New Hampton American Legion.
Those left to honor his memories are his wife, LuAnn Lechtenberg of New Hampton; children, Derek Lechtenberg and Dustin (Jessica) Lechtenberg, both of New Hampton and Darcy (Casey) Stika of La Porte City; his grandchildren, Levi, Landon, Mason and Amelia; his siblings, Delbert (Joan) Lechtenberg of New Hampton, Darlene Aegerter of Fredericksburg, Kenny Lechtenberg of North Washington, Rich (Linda) Lechtenberg of New Hampton, Alice Pomplun of Warroad, Minnesota and Dennis (Rosalee) Lechtenberg of North Washington; his father-in-law, Robert Schwickerath of New Hampton; brother-in-law, Lynn (Linda) Schwickerath of New Hampton, sister-in-law, Lynette (Randy) Mahowald of Burnsville, Minnesota; numerous nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends.
He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents; his daughter, Angela, in infancy; sister-in-law, Cheryl Lechtenberg; brothers-in-law, Earl Aegerter and Rod Pomplun; his mother-in-law, Marlys Schwickerath and niece, Deb Hoeger.
