Clifford Kutzbach Dies At 75
Clifford D. Kutzbach, age 75 of Elma, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma, with Pastor Daird Korth officiating.
Burial was in Union Cemetery at Alta Vista, with Douglas Roethler, William Roethler, Jeff Kutzbach, Dean Janssen, Travis Bartz and Roger Gesell serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers were his grandchildren.
Visitation was held from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma.
Clifford Dean Kutzbach was born on May 30, 1941 to Wallace and Velma (Prinz) Kutzbach in Elma.
He attended Elma School and then graduated from New Hampton High School in 1959.
He worked as an auto mechanic in Elma.
Cliff was united in marriage to Marlys Cordes on Nov. 26, 1966, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Elma. The couple continued to live in the Elma area and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
He worked for Lohaus Construction for several years before becoming employed at Howard County Equity, where he worked until his retirement.
Cliff enjoyed bowling, fishing, riding his Harley motorcycle, tinkering in his shop, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, NASCAR, woodworking, plowing the community’s gardens and taking care of his grandchildren, donkey, goats and dogs.
He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Elma.
Cliff is survived by his wife, Marlys of Elma; children, Lisa (Travis) Bartz of Charles City, Travis (Christy Fett) Kutzbach of Elma and Claudia (Dean Janssen) Kutzbach of Nashua; grandchildren, Kristian, Bayli, Hayden, Brittany, Marissa, and Kyle; his mother Velma Kutzbach of Elma; sisters, Lynette Thompson of Winfield, Kan. and Shirley (Mark) Childs of Marietta, Ga.; brother, Lowell (Anne) Kutzbach of Valrico, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Wallace; one brother and three sisters.
