Circus comes to town

Lions, tigers and horses were under the big top at the Nashua Fairgrounds Monday evening welcoming people of all ages. The Culpepper and Merriweather Circus attracted children and even great-grandparents to watch an entertaining show which included animals and many talented people who are part of the show.Preshow entertainment made the audience laugh when the clowns showed how they could tie square knots and give anyone a free mustache, which kept the children entertained before the big event. Many children brought their coloring pages to the circus to be entered into the coloring contests as well.Francis the Lion began the show with two tigers which were just like kittens but much bigger. They showed off jumping and walking around with the animal trainer.Miss Natalie showed everyone what her dogs could do and Miss Georgia was very flexible stretching in every direction.  The Perez Duo showed what they could do on Wheel of Destiny while the other talented entertainment showed their tight rope walking skills, unicycles and more.The clowns stole the show and had the audience laughing at many different skits throughout the hour and half show.“I love circuses and this is little but drew in a big crowd,” said long time Nashua resident Shirley Fosse.  She decided as soon as she found out the circus was coming to town, she was going. When she was a young child her family said that she was too young to go to the circus but now being older she is her own boss and came out to support the circus in Nashua.Along with the circus there were Midway Rides, souvenirs and treats for the children to enjoy.  The Culpepper and Merriweather Circus provided everything which was needed for a great circus.  They travel 32 weeks a year to small American towns for all to enjoy and will be in the area for the next week.All proceeds from the two shows in Nashua will go towards helping Nashua Area Chamber of Commerce promote, build and grow Nashua to become a place where everyone will want to come to work, play and raise a family.
