Chickasaws open with resounding win
Carter Stochl threw two touchdown passes and New Hampton had five different players find the end zone as the Chickasaws rolled to a 35-12 win over Charles City on opening night of “Friday Night Football.”A Stochl-to-Ryan Gorman 43-yard pass on New Hampton’s first possession set up a Drew Boeding 5-yard touchdown run to make it 7-0 less than three minutes into the game.After Noah Fenske and Josh Fenske both came up with sacks on Charles City’s next possession, New Hampton had a short field to work with and Josh Fenske scored on a fourth-down 1-yard run to make it 13-0.Charles City closed the cap to 13-6 midway through the second quarter, Stochl hit Gorman with a 63-yard bomb that set up a Stochl-to-Keagan John 18-yard touchdown pass with 1:41 left.New Hampton put the game away with a 42-yard scoring pass to Gorman and a Tristan Sweitzer 28-yard run in the third quarter.“We saw a lot of nice things,” New Hampton coach Scott Frerichs said, “but we also know we have to get back to work and keep improving.”The Chickasaws head to Waukon next Friday and will finally play at home on Sept. 9, when they host Forest City in the Class 2A, District 2 opener.
