Chickasaws earn NEIC honors

Lead Summary

Most of the first team Northeast Iowa Conference volleyball picks were split between league-leading Charles City and No. 2 Waverly-Shell Rock this year.Only one spot went to a player other than a Comet or a Go-Hawk as New Hampton’s Emma Nicolaisen earned first team honors. Also selected to an NEIC list was Kayla Gilbert as an honorable mention pick.    Both are seniors for the Chickasaws, who went 3-3 in the NEIC and 28-11 overall and claimed two tournament titles — one at the Waukon Invitational in September and the other one at the BCLUW Invitational that was held in early October.    Overall, Nicolaisen turned in 250 kills during the season, which was sixth in the conference, and she was fifth in kills per set with 2.55.  More on the story may be found in the Nov. 11 Tribune.
