Animals on the move
Matt Crayne figured he’d incorporate the Nashua Public Library’s summer reading program theme — “Ready, Set, Read” — into his presentation Monday.“‘Ready, Set, Read’ reminds me of a race,” the Chickasaw County Conservation Board naturalist said, “so I thought talking to the kids about how animals get from one place to the other would be appropriate.”All the children participated in guessing how animals move — running, flying, jumping, digging swimming, climbing and even slithering were discussed. The children learned that a cheetah is the fastest land animal. It can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in a mere three seconds and run 70 to 75 MPH in bursts.— For more on this, see the July 28 Reporter
