Heating up a title
New Hampton used three different pitchers to hold their collective opponents to a total of six runs in 21 innings of play during the Chickasaw Softball Invitational Saturday, and while a good defense went a long way toward winning their home tourney, the offense wasn’t too shabby either.
The Chickasaws were 3-0 at the tourney, while Turkey Valley left without a win. The two neighboring schools played each other to start the tournament, with the NH girls winning 9-3.
As of late, New Hampton has had a slow start to their games, but came out with five first-inning runs against the Trojans. However, none of the runs were earned as several Turkey Valley errors set the stage for a two-RBI single by Kallie Olson, followed by a Kaelyn Ambrose RBI-single.
Turkey Valley also scored in the first as Jaedyn Winter doubled and came in on a Kassidy Reicks out at first.
Results from the New Hampton and Turkey Valley games may be found in the June 19 Tribune.
