Geerts makes it official, signs with Panthers

Lead Summary

New Hampton’s Keaton Geerts made it official Friday when he signed a national letter of intent to continue his wrestling career next year at the University of Northern Iowa.   But after signing his name to the proverbial dotted line, all Geerts could think about was what would start in three days.   “Right now, all I care about is what we need to get done this year,” the senior said. “I can’t wait for Monday. I can’t wait to get in the room and start going for the goals.”   And those goals are high.   Goal No. 1 is becoming the first New Hampton wrestler since Mike Humpal in 2003 to win two straight individual state championships. Goal No. 1A is helping the Chickasaws win their first team title since they took the dual-meet crown in 2005.  The rest of the story may be found in the Nov. 15 Tribune.
