Former Chickasaw hits 1,000-point milestone at Luther
When Jared Nicolaisen wrapped up his freshman season of college basketball at Luther College in February 2016, his career point total stood at 87.
Now, he’s a 1,000-point scorer for the Norse as he reached the milestone in an excruciating 83-81 loss to Central on Saturday evening.
“I probably wouldn’t have believed it if you had told me back then so it does mean a lot,” said the 2015 New Hampton High School graduate. “I wouldn’t say it was necessarily a goal, but it’s something I worked at, too.”
And Nicolaisen has had one heck of a career at Luther.
After averaging 4.6 points a game his freshman season, he improved that mark to 11.6 a game in 2016-17, and the average jumped again last season as a junior as he scored 16.6 points a game and was named to the all-Iowa Conference team. Add it all up, and Nicolaisen has 1,001 career points and has averaged 12.8 points a game during his career.
