Effort better, but result is the same

Lead Summary

Although New Hampton played a better game against Crestwood their second time around, the margin of the Cadet win Monday was exactly the same as it was the first time, 29 points, as the Chickasaw girls lost a 76-47 contest at Cresco.  New Hampton had a better overall shooting percentage in this game, they were 10 percentage points better from 3-point range, made two more 3-point shots, had fewer fouls, more assists, more steals and more rebounds.  “We did play much better against them,” coach Matt Schult began. “I was very pleased with our play in the first half and that was amidst foul trouble. The girls shot with confidence, cut hard, and got some high percentage shots up around the rim.”  After a quarter the NH girls were holding their own but trailing 18-12. The Chickasaws scored 16 points in the second quarter before their shooting cooled in the third quarter and they only put up 19 points in all of the second half.  The rest of the story may be found in the Feb. 20 Tribune.
