Cleon Phalen Seedorf dies at 65

Cleon Phalen Seedorf, of Elma, passed away Monday, August 15, 2016 in Lake City, Minn. at the age of 65. Cleon was born December 5, 1950 to Phalen and Henrietta (Katzung) Seedorf in Tyler, Minn. He was raised in Alden, Minn. and graduated from Alden High School. Cleon attended Jackson Vocational School to become an electrical lineman. He worked for 38 years at Interstate Power & Alliant Energy. On Dec. 19, 1970, Cleon married Jean Bratch at First Baptist Church in Clarks Grove, Minn and to this union two sons were born: Phalen & Christopher.Cleon lived for the outdoors and being on water, spending much of his free time fishing and hunting. He was involved in the Fountain Lake Sportsman Club, Howard County Conservation Board, Howard County Sportsman Club, Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, and the NRA.Survivors include Cleon’s children, Phalen Seedorf (Sharon O’Byrne), Christopher (Eleesha) Seedorf; grandchildren, Ashley Hanson, Christopher Seedorf Jr., Madison Seedorf, and Corey Seedorf; sister, Dawn (Daniel) Diemer; niece, Desirae (Jeremiah) Wagner; aunt, LaVon Wegner; his extended Lake City family including special friend, Margie; and many other relatives and friends.Cleon was preceded in death by his parents, Phalen Seedorf and Henrietta (George) Schmidt; aunt, Verna Seedorf-Helland; and uncle, Philip Wegner.Memorial services are pending.
