Church shows ‘tangible’ love’ to Mikkelson Park

 Rick Kramer may have best summed up the work done by a local church group this past weekend at Mikkelson Park.The New Hampton Parks and Recreation director’s take on the painting of playground equipment by the members of Prairie Lakes Church?“It kind of pops out at you, doesn’t it?”It sure does.For Prairie Lakes Pastor Cory Orr, the idea behind a “park day” was simple.“We want to be a blessing to a community that has been so supportive of us,” he said. “We want to show the same tangible love that Christ shows us.”So Orr called Kramer and Parks and Recreation Program Manager Tara Hackman and threw out the question: What can we do for you?And considering it’s been years since the park equipment near the softball diamond has been painted, Kramer and Hackman had a quick answer.On Sunday, instead of holding its weekly 10 a.m. service at the Chickasaw Event Center, Prairie Lakes members met at a Mikkelson shelterhouse, held a devotional and then went to work.For the complete story see the 7/1/2016 New Hampton Tribune.
