Chickasaws hold off Fort Dodge for J-Hawk Invite title
Keaton Geerts knew he had to be more aggressive in “the rematch.” He was, he won and the victory — along with a late New Hampton run — propelled the Chickasaws to the team title at the J-Hawk Invitational in Cedar Rapids Saturday. In a tournament, though, that featured scores of matches, the one most wanted to see was Geerts versus Fort Dodge’s Triston Lara. Both came into the Cedar Rapids Jefferson tournament ranked No. 1 — Geerts in 2A and Lara in 3A — and Lara had handed the New Hampton superstar his only loss with a 3-1 decision at Independence in early December. All of the New Hampton results may be found in the Jan. 17 Tribune.
