Chickasaw girls’ trio honored by NEIC

Lead Summary

Carlee Rochford couldn’t catch a break in 2021.
First it was an ankle injury that forced her to miss the final 11 games of the New Hampton girls basketball season. Then mono prevented her from returning to the hardwood to help the Chickasaws’ postseason push.
While that comeback to the court was thwarted by sickness – Rochford, just a sophomore, continued to support her teammates and cheer them on despite not being allowed to showcase her dazzling and dizzying display of dribbling, defending and draining long-range shots.
Through all that, arguably the most talented player in the Northeast Iowa Conference, was justly honored with first-team all-conference recognition for her efforts in an abbreviated season.
She was joined on the first team by senior Hope McDonald, one of the grittest players in the NEIC this past winter. McDonald’s classmate, Rylee Schumacher, was named honorable mention.
