Chickasaw girls go three-for-three

Lead Summary

For just a split second during New Hampton's win over Decorah Friday night, the gym was quiet enough to hear the New Hampton bench start laughing.  “Oh, Emma [Nicolaisen] said something about an 'on fire' emoji,” coach Matt Schult explained when asked about the laughter.  That emoji would pretty well describe what the New Hampton girls did in the third period of their 58-35 win over the Vikings. They turned a comfortable 28-16 halftime lead into a blowout with a 21-1 advantage in that quarter.  The game was in the middle of back-to-back-to-back engagements by the NH girls, as they also won over Charles City 45-34 on Thursday and South Winn Saturday 53-36.  Before Friday's game, the six Chickasaw seniors were recognized — Darian Wegner, Kayla Gilbert, Nicolaisen, Bethany Zenk, Lexi Rasmussen and Hunter Gerber.  The rest of the story may be found in the Jan. 31 Tribune.
