Tough night on gridiron
A gut punch – no doubt.
The end of the world – not even close.
There were many questions answered on Friday night in New Hampton.
One such query had a definitive response and materialized into a bold statement made.
The Osage Green Devils can throw plenty of haymakers – there’s no arguing that.
The New Hampton Chickasaws took one square to the jaw against that opponent in its sixth game of the 2021 season. Battered and bruised these Chickasaws may be – but they’re definitely not down for the count.
“The district is a tough race. In football, you need to be ready every Friday night. We didn’t give the type of effort we needed on this night, but we will bounce back,” said New Hampton head coach Scott Frerichs.
In what was a pivotal game in Class 2A, District 3, the Green Devils removed any doubt as to whether or not they are for real after dismantling the Chickasaws, 42-12.
From the start, New Hampton looked flat.
“We came out like we have won everything and you can’t do that in district play,” said Chickasaw senior quarterback Mason Lane. “It doesn’t matter who you’re against.”
