Marissa Cahoy downs a kill during the season.

New Hampton’s Cahoy named honorable mention all-state

Marissa Cahoy is more than just a intimidating presence for the New Hampton Chickasaw volleyball team.

Sure, her ability to rise above the net and slam down kills at a rapid race is impressive. But in order to crack the elite ranks of prep volleyball in the state of Iowa – it takes more than just raw power near the net to make your mark.

Cahoy demonstrated that all-around game her sophomore season and was awarded with high honors recently as the Chickasaw outside hitter cracked the Class 3A all-state squad. The awards are handed out by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

Cahoy, the bearer of 294 kills this fall, earned a spot on the honorable mention all-state team.

Cahoy’s perseverance and hard work paid off in a big way, which helped the Chickasaws play to a 24-11 mark in 2021.
