Turkey Valley to face No. 11 West Hancock Friday in Charles City

Probably the majority of the people in the Turkey Valley gym Tuesday night agreed with Lydia Schuchhardt, who thought the 60-49 Lady Trojan regional win was a little closer than expected.  After all, Turkey Valley, with their 18-2 record, was playing a Mason City Newman team that went 11-11 during the season, and the Trojans have outscored their opponents by an average of over 22 points a game.  While the Trojans had a first-round bye in the postseason, the Knights were warming up with a 70-43 win over Riceville.  “We went to that game and I didn’t think Newman played that well against Riceville,” said Schuchhardt after the game. “So tonight was not quite what I was expecting.”  Foul trouble plagued the hosts, giving Schuchhardt more time on the floor, and the junior took advantage by scoring a career-high nine points.  For the full story, please turn to the Feb. 17 Tribune.
