Lots of good things are happening here in New Hampton

We have several things to welcome here in town.
Our new EMS Director Austin and his wife Breezy are all moved in, so we welcome them to our town. AJ is doing a great job for Chickasaw County and New Hampton as the county emergency management director.
Our bowling alley has been sold, and we welcome Josh Novak and his family to New Hampton as they took possession of the alley last week.
Our new laundry mat is currently under construction and we thank Roger and Carla Dreckman for choosing New Hampton.
K&W and Dungey’s Furniture buildings look amazing and we await Dungey’s opening. Hugeback-Johnson Funeral home is underway with their construction on Main Street and certainly is something for us to watch as they change the look of that corner.
We also had a ribbon cutting for the New Hampton Diner and a celebration of their first year of business in New Hampton. If you haven’t checked them out, the food is delicious.
Emma Schwickerath has opened a dance studio above Pocketful of Posies. She has a lot of dance and exercise opportunities for young and old. For those needing a new bike or repair, Brandon Hemann is moving his bike shop “Pedals and Play” to Main Street next to Kennedy Law office.
Fundraising for the Tribe Trail walking/bike trail is going very well. We should be starting the first phase of the trail soon. The renovations for the swimming pool are also very exciting to showcase our wonderful park.
A splash pad, plunge pool and anchored floatables will be so much fun! This renovation begins at the end of this pool season. Our new middle school will begin construction this fall as well.
Our hospital is celebrating 100 years in Aug. 4-6. They have worked hard and have many activities planned, so check it out.
There is a committee being formed to work on having a dog park in New Hampton. There is a want/need to have an off-leash area for dogs to be able to socialize and run. I will keep you informed as we have more information.
We are also working on having new housing developments. We don’t have many homes for sale as you have been reading and we are having meetings with banks, contractors and construction companies, realtors, ect., to see what is possible for building affordably priced homes, duplexes, or condos.
Our Relay for Life and Classic Car Show has joined together for one night. Come join us on Main Street June 1 for two great events.
Heartland Days is June 9-12. There is so much going on right now in New Hampton (sorry for anything I’ve missed), you can sit back and watch, or be a part of it all.
