N-P softball picks up two more wins
Nashua-Plainfield’s softball team — thanks to two wins recorded in the last week — has already tripled its 2017 win total.
That’s the good news. The bad news is the Huskies still have a ways to go.
“We are in a rebuilding stage,” coach Hannah Holthaus said, “but I don’t want them to say, ‘Great, we’ve already won three games this year’ and settle for that. I’m seeing a lot of positives, but we have the ability, I think, to be a decent team and we have to keep working at it.”
The Huskies had an up-and-down week – beating Eagle Grove 13-2 last Tuesday, before falling to North Butler and North Union later in the week and going 1-2 at the Hudson Invitational Saturday.
Start with the positives — a power surge in that Eagle Grove game and a 22-2 pasting of Dunkerton in Hudson.
Against Eagle Grove, the Huskies rallied from an early 2-0 deficit and used home runs by Britney Holthaus, Toyia Griffin and Breanna Hackman to rally for a game that was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.
