Trojans survive a potent Easton Valley passing attack

The statistics for Easton Valley tells the story of Turkey Valley’s 60-34 Friday win over the River Hawks more so than the Trojan stats.
Easton Valley threw for five touchdowns — but they also were picked off three times. The River Hawks gained 352 yards passing — but only 15 yards rushing.
Coach Mark Scott could have used the classic “bend but not break” quote. But he didn’t.
“Easton Valley’s passing offense created some issues for our defense, but the players did a great job of sticking with the game plan to hold them to their lowest point total of the season,” he said.
Turkey Valley’s offense, on the other hand, was steady and balanced as usual, with 94 yards passing, no interceptions and 324 yards rushing. The rushing game itself was very balanced as all six of the Trojan ball carries had positive yards, ranging from Leibold with a 3.2 yard per carry average up to Dylan Elsbernd, who, with his 84 yards on 12 carries, averaged 7 yards per touch. Freshman Marcus Herold gained the most yardage of his young career with 74 yards and Leibold added 60.
Leibold was 8-for-15 passing, his 94 yards of completions put him at over 1,000 yards for the season at 1,054. He’s thrown 16 touchdowns with only two interceptions; the quarterback is also the leader on defense with 58.5 tackles this year.
