Trojans’ coach lauds seniors
Not all of Turkey Valley's seven senior baseball athletes played in a doubleheader that bookended their senior night recognition Friday. But all of them will be sorely missed by coach Dan Stepan next year. Clayton Ridge spoiled the senior festivities by edging the Trojans in both games, 3-0 in game one and 4-3 in game two, even though the TV boys outhit their opponents in each game. Game two was especially hard-fought. Two runs by the Eagles in the top of the seventh put them up 4-1, but a single by Wyatt Blazek in the bottom of the inning drove in both Kyle Langreck, on with a single, and Evan Drilling, who had walked. But the rally ended there. Although the Trojans had nine hits to just three for the Eagles, that's not the number that counts at the end. Evan Busta pitched the full game for the Trojans and allowed the three hits while striking out seven and walking one. Two of his four runs were earned. At the plate Busta singled and doubled on the night. Busta is one of the seniors that were honored. "Evan has had an outstanding year of pitching," said Stepan. "We will definitely be leaning on him in the postseason to pitch in some big games."
