Trojan boys win, then take second

Only two races into Tuesday’s meet at Nashua-Plainfield and Mark Scott was enjoying the day so much more than the night before.  “Last night was cold, wet and it took forever,” said the Turkey Valley coach. “This meet is already running better.”  Computer glitches in the automatic timing system Monday night at Oelwein made for a long night, even though the Trojans finished first among the nine teams at the meet.  “We had a lot of good effort last night, a lot of team effort,” said the coach, before adding under his breath, “for kids that were standing around waiting to run races with no sweats on.”  That made the sunshine and efficiently-run meet at Nashua-Plainfield Tuesday rather enjoyable, where the Trojans placed second to Central Springs in an eight-team field.  For all of the Turkey Valley results, please see the April 14 Tribune.
