Student makes it 3-for-3
Bethany Zenk will be the first to admit that she felt the pressure, but her band director knew — positively, absolutely — that the New Hampton High School senior would handle it.She did and is now a true band superstar. For a third straight year, Zenk is heading to the All-State Musical festival as a member of the All-State Band.“This year was different,” Zenk said about the All-State auditions that took place on Oct. 22 at Hampton-Dumont High School. “This year, honestly, I was more relieved than happy. I really wanted to go, but I know every year is different. I knew nothing was guaranteed.”Justin Adam, though, knew if anyone could come up with a “threepeat,” it was his talented clarinet player.“She’s been through the process, she knew what to expect and she knows how to manage her stress,” the New Hampton band director said. “And more than anything, she works at it. I don’t think anyone really realizes how much work kids like Bethany put into music.”For the complete story see the 11/1/2016 New Hampton Tribune.
