Some good, some not so good for Chickasaw boys
Going into his senior year, Wyatt Stochl’s best 18-hole score stood at 79. So when he turned in a 40 after the first round of an 18-hole meet at the New Hampton Golf and Country Club Monday, he just needed to cut a stroke in the second round to tie that record.
But his second round was a 33. He cut seven strokes for a new personal record of 73.
The back nine wasn’t easier than the front nine, since NHGCC is a nine-hole course. So what was his secret?
“You know, I think the big thing was, the JV only played nine holes,” said the Chickasaw senior. “That front nine we were waiting at some of the tee boxes, once for 20-30 minutes. On the backside, when I got into more of a rhythm, I seemed to do better.”
