Short-handed TV girls forced to skip some events

A Plan B would have been nice Monday. While fully automatic track timing is generally a great thing to have, when it’s not working, it can get ugly.  Like at Oelwein, where the West Central Coed Relays were held.  “It was crazy,” said girls coach Brian Schmitt. “It was a cold and very long meet, we didn't get back to Turkey Valley till almost midnight due to the camera/technology issues.”  The Lady Trojans finished eighth in the field of nine, then trailed the field the next night among eight teams at Nashua-Plainfield.  Always short on numbers, the TV girls lost a big player when Sadie Nymeyer went out with a hamstring issue in the first race of the night, the sprint medley, at Oelwein.  “She said she felt it when she was running and slowed down,” said Schmitt. “I told her she just should have stepped off to the side and stopped, but she said she was too much of a competitor.”  Nymeyer, on the sidelines the next night, thought the injury a minor one, and didn’t care for the role as spectator.  The computer problems affected the ability to record the complete sprint medley times, as well as those of the 4x800.
