Roger N. Reicks dies at 61
Roger N. Reicks, age 61 of Lawler, died Sunday August 21, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospitals in Rochester, Minn.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Holy Family Parish, New Hampton with Msgr. Carl Schmitt, Rev. Brian Dellaert and Rev. Kyle Digmann con-celebrating the Mass. Ann Bennett will be the organist accompanying Mike Carlin as vocalist. Presenting the offertory gifts will be Roger's grandchildren.Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Little Turkey with Scott Adams, Ron Hayek, Louie Smith, Dale Reicks, Jim Reicks, Mike Reicks, Rick Huber, Rick Heying and Carl Decker as pallbearers. Friends may greet the family 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2016, in the Gathering Space at Holy Family Parish. Visitation continues an hour prior to the Mass in the Gathering Space.Arrangements are with Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton. Online condolences for Roger’s family may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.comRoger Norbert Reicks was born February 18, 1955, in New Hampton, the son of Alex and Luella (Huinker) Reicks. He attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School in Lawler and was a 1973 graduate of Turkey Valley High School. He then furthered his education at Iowa State studying agriculture. On February 4, 1978, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin, he married Diane Lensing. To this union four children were born. The couple settled on their farm near Jerico. Farming was not only an occupation but a passion. Farm work was not considered work by Roger, he not only made work fun, he wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. He enjoyed tractor pulls, following the Iowa State Cyclones and Sunday drives with Diane. More than anything in this world, Roger loved his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren.Survivors include his wife Diane; his children, Brian (Tonya) Reicks of Lawler, Paula (Casey) Ryan of St. Paul, NE, Barry (Amanda) Reicks of Lawler and Austin (Katelyn) Reicks of Lawler; his grandchildren, Tyler, Gracie, Grady, Reed, Etta, Lucas, Jaila and Amelia; his father, Alex Reicks of Lawler; two sisters, Marla (Mark Mills) Reicks of Ham lake, Minn. and Melany Reicks of Little Canada, Minn; five brothers, Ronald (Julie) Reicks, Richard Reicks, Ralph (Missy) Reicks, Rene (Cynthia) Reicks and Rory Reicks, all of Lawler; many nieces and nephews; his father and mother-in-law, Donald and Norma Lensing of Protivin; two brothers-in-law, Dave (Kathy) Lensing of Waukon, and Mike and Theresa Lensing of Protivin; one sister-in-law, Mary (Rich) Dreckman of Waukon.He was preceded in death by his mother, Luella and one brother, Randy Reicks.
