Rewarded Chickasaws
After a season in which New Hampton won its fifth consecutive conference title and made their first state tournament appearance in school history, a quintet of Chickasaws were honored by the Northeast Iowa Conference as all-league selections.
Headlining these accolades were three players — Mason Cleveland, Hunter Pesek and Wyatt Stochl. Each of these trio of individuals were tabbed as first team players.
Cleveland is the lone Chickasaw to repeat as a first-teamer after accomplishing it during his junior campaign as well — both times as an infielder.
“Being a first team selection for the second straight year is pretty cool. For me, I feel like this shows that I wasn’t complacent. It shows I improved,” Cleveland said. “Other conference coaches vote on who deserves these awards, so it shows that coaches notice my ability to play baseball.”
