Not a bad way to start
The Chickasaw girls track team kicked off their season Tuesday at the Wartburg College Select Invitational.
Although they only had 14 girls compete at the event, many of them shined against some of the state’s best athletes.
The track meet consisted of an abundance of 3A and 4A schools, with over 70 boys and girls teams partaking in the invitational.
Because it was the first competition of the year, New Hampton girls head track coach Jeanette Laures tried to keep expectations low.
“We treat it as a scrimmage just to see where we are,” Laures said. “We’ve got some starting points, and now we know what areas we can continue to improve on.”
