Not a bad start at all

     Maybe the best part of Nashua-Plainfield’s brilliant season opener for head coach Chase Sudol was the injury report.     “We came out pretty much fine,” Sudol said before adding with a laugh, “and for once, it’s nice not spending 20 minutes talking about injuries.”     The football was pretty good, too, as the Huskies completely controlled the line of scrimmage and used a suffocating defense to roll past Postville 38-0 in the non-district game.     “We played pretty well, but we left some points out on the field and our guys know we’ve got to get better,” Sudol said. “But it was a pretty solid start.”     The stats were completely one sided. The Huskies had 22 first downs; Postville managed four. Nashua-Plainfield outgained the Pirates 292-36. And the Huskies showed they have plenty of balance.     Three Huskies finished with more than 57 yards as Nashua-Plainfield spread the ball around. Tristen Brase led the way with 88 yards on nine carries, Mason Hyde had 59 yards on 13 rushes and Levi Enright finished with 57 yards on 11 carries.     Brase may have been the biggest surprise.     “I didn’t expect Brase to get that many carries,” Sudol said, “but Enright’s nursing a bit of ankle injury so we thought, ‘Let’s give Brase some carries.’ And he proved he deserves the ball more often.”
