NH XC showcases improvement after rough start to week
After not starting the week the way they wanted to, the New Hampton cross country team ended it with a bang. They didn’t perform as well as they were hoping at Waukon last Tuesday, but posted some of their best times of the season on Saturday in Independence.
“We had a great week of training this past week. Athletes did not like how they performed at Waukon and were eager to train hard in order to improve,” coach Kristy Manson said. “They definitely were ready to race Saturday; this is the kind of race we want to continue to have as we approach conference and districts.”
Ali Russler was one of the many individuals who impressed at the Independence Invitational. She clocked in at 22:03 for a top-five finish. This time was over two minutes quicker than she ran at Waukon.
