Larry Kellogg, 65
Larry Kellogg, age 65, of Ionia, IA passed away after a brave battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at his home with his family by his side.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30am Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Ionia with Father Brian Dellaert officiating. Burial will take place at St. Boniface Cemetery in Ionia.
A public visitation will be held at Ionia Funeral Home from 4:00-7:00 PM on Monday, June 15, 2020 and will continue at the church one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday. Due to continued guidelines, we encourage those attending the visitation and funeral to wear masks while inside the facilities and maintain social distancing practices. Larry Kellogg was born December 19, 1954, the son of Dale and Wilma (Martin) Kellogg in Charles City, IA.
He attended New Hampton High School. After completing his education, Larry worked a variety of jobs, including Stoltz Construction, Sara Lee, Floyd County and the State of Iowa, as well as Winnebago Industries.
On December 16, 1977, Larry was united in marriage to Diane Hoffman at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple made their home on the Kellogg family farm in Ionia. Together they raised their five children, Michele, Joe, Jackie, Brian and Lisa.
Larry spent much of his life farming and most notably, bee keeping. Kellogg’s Honey was established in 1989 and his honey can be found in several retail locations throughout the state. Larry was respected as a mentor for neighboring bee keepers throughout the years.
On the rare occasion that Larry wasn’t working, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Those left to cherish Larry’s memories are his wife, Diane of Ionia; his children, Michele (Doug) Munn of Clear Lake, Jackie (Ken) Zeien of Waverly, IA; Brian (Shana) Kellogg of Ionia, and Lisa Kellogg of Ionia; his 13 grandchildren; his siblings, Wayne Nathem of Waterloo, IA, Leroy (Lynette) Kellogg of Ionia, Leslie (Cindy) Kellogg of Ionia and Sandra (Dan) Bucknell of Tripoli, IA and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Joe; his brothers, Mike and Bruce; his sister, Bonnie.
