Huskies set their sights on a Class 1A sectional title

Fresh off a strong showing at the Top of Iowa Conference wrestling tournament, Nashua-Plainfield coach Al Frost wants his team to focus on a singular goal.
“We want to win sectionals and we have the capability to do that,” he said of Saturday’s Class 1A postseason meet that North Butler/Clarksville will host in Clarksville. “If you get top two, you go to the regional duals. That’s a goal, for sure, but I want to see these guys come out and win the dang thing.”
And after a fifth-place showing at last Saturday’s Top of Iowa Conference tournament in Forest City, Frost believes his team is on the right track.
The Huskies used their depth as they scored points in 12 of the 14 weight classes to finish with 124.5 points to climb into the top five. Osage won the meet with 237.5 points, 33.5 more than runner-up Lake Mills. Central Springs was third, West Hancock was fourth and the Huskies beat Eagle Grove by four points to take fifth.
“There’s a lot to be said for having a full team, or almost a full team,” Frost said, “and, if you think about it, that four-point difference can come from a lot of different ways. That’s two pins, that’s four guys getting advancement points. It was a pretty good day for Nashua-Plainfield.”
