Hawkeyes settle for silver in Taiwan
Iowa's magical run at the World University Games ended Tuesday night in Taiwan as Team Japan posted a 10-0 win over the Hawkeyes in the gold medal game, but the silver medal was the first ever won by the United States at the Games. "It was a great experience for our guys, a once in a lifetime, and they'll never forget this," said Iowa coach Rick Heller, whose Hawkeyes served as Team USA during the Games. "It is invaluable for this team heading into the fall and winter and into our spring season. “We threw three of our freshmen out there and to put them in this environment was amazing. They're going to benefit for this so much in February when we start our season." The Hawkeyes went 5-2 in Taiwan, with their only two losses coming to Japan.
