District may face some tough times
Superintendent Jay Jurrens sounded the alarm to the New Hampton School Board last week when it came to the state of the district’s General Fund.At the same time, Jurrens said there was no reason to panic; instead, he wanted board members to know that budget times could become tricky in the near future.“We are certainly not alone in this,” Jurrens said, “and the bottom is not falling out from underneath us. ... This is more about being prepared and planning.”Jurrens handed out two spreadsheets that he believes illustrates the predicament New Hampton in particular and rural school districts will face in the next several years. For the complete story see the 11/29/2016 New Hampton Tribune.
