Defense is strong as TV girls roll over Clayton Ridge
Anyone that sees the way Emily Busta cuts through defenders and dives after a loose ball may forget the major surgery she had on her knee last year.
Until they see the knee brace and the bag on ice she straps on after games, including the Turkey Valley 46-18 win over Clayton Ridge Tuesday.
“It’s still sore and it swells up after a game,” said the Trojan senior, who went through the same thing with her other knee late in her freshman year. Busta scored 10 points in the opening half of the game against the Eagles and when her 3-point shot hit its mark early in the second quarter, the TV girls had a 16-1 lead.
And even though Turkey Valley lost some of its scoring power in the second half — going from double digits to single digits in the third and fourth quarters — the defense did a fine job. The Lady Trojans held the Eagles to one point in the first quarter and two in the final stanza.
