Chickasaws suffer first district loss
New Hampton's margin for error got a lot slimmer Friday night as the Chickasaws dropped their first Class 2A, District 2 game of the season as Crestwood came away with a 13-7 victory.
The Chickasaws fell to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in district play on a night.
The Cadets, who improved to 3-1 in district play, got on the board on the first half's penultimate play as Harry Kitchen scored on a 40-yard screen pass with six seconds left.
But New Hampton rallied at the start of the second half as Wyatt Stochl recovered a fumble on the kickoff.
Four plays later, Keegan Kane scored on a 4-yard run, and Austin Hemann's kick tied the game at seven.
The Cadets, though, scored on its next drive and held New Hampton scoreless the rest of the way.
New Hampton fell into a four-way tie for second place in the district. Clear Lake leads the way with a 4-0 mark while the Chickasaws, Cadets, Osage and Garner-Hayfield-Ventura are all a game back.
New Hampton returns home to take on Osage next Friday night.
