Chickasaws give 3A power a battle at Waverly
As a coach, Bill Glenn doesn't feel his motivational skills are needed much at all while the head mentor of the boys golf team. While he may impart his golf skills to the players, he doesn't have to push them to become better. "These guys have a friendly rivalry going," he said after the team won against Sumner-Fred and Hudson Thursday, then finished second of eight teams at Waverly Friday. "They all want to be the best guy, they don't need a lot of outside motivation." The Chickasaws were 9-2 overall on the season after they took the runner-up spot in the Friday tourney to West Delaware. "I thought we had a chance at them, but they're a traditional 3A powerhouse and have a good program." Thursday at the South Hills course they finished with a 155, well ahead of Sumner-Fredericksburg at 174 and Hudson with a 206. Carter Stochl was a medalist and Ryan Anderson tied for the runner-up spot with a 38. Stochl parred every hole until a bogey on the No. 8 hole, finishing with one over par 37.
