Brown routs Wilhelm; Prichard wins re-election
Republicans gained control of the Iowa Senate for the first time this decade, and they did it with the help of a surprisingly easy victory from Waylon Brown, who knocked out Democratic incumbent Mary Jo Wilhelm in District 26.Meanwhile, the other Legislative seat that represents Chickasaw County will remain in Democratic hands after incumbent State Rep. Todd Prichard fought off a challenge from Stacie Stokes.Brown garnered 19,127 votes, or 62.4 percent, while Wilhelm, who was seeking a third term in the Senate, finished with 11,531 votes, or 37.6 percent.In the Iowa House District 52 race, Prichard finished with 8,153 votes, or 54.4 percent, while Stokes received 6,841 votes, or 45.6 percent.— For more Election 2016 coverage, see the Nov. 10 Reporter and the Nov. 11 Tribune
